The High Desert Chapter was founded in 1979 by Stu Garrett and Joyce Bork and since then has offered a variety of field trips, hikes, and lectures featuring native plants and their habitat.

This past year we viewed the impacts of  the hot Eyerly Fire at Fly Creek with  Robert Marhiene; learned about the impacts of junipers on the watershed through a tour and discussion lead by Tim Deboodt; saw meadows of native flowers with Reid Schuller  at Big Summit Prairie; hiked up to the top of Broken Top with Stu Garrett through blooming fields of heather; experienced the wildflowers of Glaze Meadow with Maret Pajutee; learned the complex process of cleaning native seeds at the USFS Seed Extractory; and ended the year with a tour and BBQ at  Winter Creek Nursery.  Thank you Karen and Rick for the great tour of your beautiful gardens and for generously hosting of our annual BBQ.
